addicted!Jul 23, 2010 If you love board games you will definitely love this. The instructions are a little confusing so if you're buying/playing this for the first time you might want to read it a few times. It's such an addicting game. I'm on summer vacation and my dad and I play at least 3 games everyday and each game takes about 30 minutes and that's just for two people. The concept is totally awesome and you can even learn where cities are in Europe through the board. It's one of those games where you need both luck and brains.
Ticket to Ride - a great game I play quite oftenJul 20, 2010 I got this version of the game for my son, and enjoyed playing it.
It has new features such as depots, warehouses, ferries, and tunnels, which are not in the Marklin version which I play a few times a week, so that offers a challenge. I would recommend this series of games to any gamer...!
fab game!Jul 16, 2010 After discovering how much fun Ticket to Ride was we decided to purchase Ticket to Ride Europe.
These are some of the best games I have bought in years! Every time it is different, and just as fun as the 1st time.
I think the Europe version as well as the standard game are great educational tools in teaching locations of places to each other.
Excellent Board Game For 2 People!Jun 25, 2010 My husband-to-be and I have recently started hosting a weekly game night at our place as an alternative to spending money out. It's been really fun- but one thing that we quickly learned was that most games require at least three if not four people! So for the most part the games that we enjoy with our company simply aren't playable when it is just the two of us. I bought this game specifically so we would have a euro-style strategy game that we could play together- and we absolutely love it. It's less of a time commitment than a movie, and we find it relaxing. I'm sure with more players it becomes more competitive/crowded and thus more intense. The board and card artwork is absolutely beautiful! Highly recommended to add to your collection of two person games!
Great alternative to US versionJun 21, 2010 Fantastic game, and a great alternative to the US version. I prefer the US version, but this adds an interesting twist to things. The inclusion of stations has taken the edge of as now it is easier to complete routs without being blocked.
Besides the map, the modifications from the US version are as follows:
1. Addition of tunnels. Tunnels come in gray and other colours (to lay tracks on coloured tunnel routs you must use the same coloured cards; but to lay tracks on gray tunnel routs any individual colour can be used). If you plan to lay track on a tunnel root, three cards are drawn from the deck at random. For every card drawn from the deck that matches the colour or type of cards you laid down, you must lay down an additional card from your own stack. For example: You decide to lay track on a blue two-squared tunnel and you lay two blue cards. Three cards are turned-over from the deck. For each blue card that is turned over from the deck, you must add a blue card from your own stack.
2. Any colour can be used to lay track on gray routs in the American version. This has not changed in the European version, but some gray tracks now have a locomotive icon on one of their squares. For every locomotive icon present the player must use a multi-colored card. This adds some strategic significance to multi-coloured making them necessary for certain routs, whereas the US version could be played without them.
3. The addition of train stations. This in my opinion has taken the edge of the game and made it a little easier. It's now harder to block certain routs because stations can bridge over routs occupied by another player. For example. If you plan to go from Paris to Lisbon through Madrid, and another player occupies Madrid to Lisbon, you can complete your rout by planting a station in Madrid or Lisbon (given you have made it to Madrid). The station can be used as a bridge in or out of any city over one track.
