Fun, but not very well designedJun 14, 2010 I enjoy solving the Rubik's 5x5, but this cube is very fragile. I feel like I'm going to break this thing by accident every time I play with it. Kinda makes it useless for speed cubing. The quality of this cube (or the lack thereof) is something you'd expect more from a cheap imitation made in some sweat shop in China that you'd find at the dollar store. You'd think that Rubik's would have the money, resources and the knowledge to build a more durable cube that is easy to move without it almost falling apart on you. Overall, I am rather disappointed in the quality and durability of the Rubik's 5x5. I've heard the V-cube is a way better design, so I might give that a try sometime.
I love this cube!Jun 03, 2010 Excellent product. This cube is one of the sturdiest and most challenging "brain teasers" that I have ever had the pleasure of playing with. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to spend some "off" time challenging themselves.
Don't buy thisApr 26, 2010 The Rubik's Professor is terrible compared to the V-Cube 5. The Rubik's Professor Cubes don't turn well and their stickers peel off after only a few hours of cubing. You have to twist them slowly or pieces will break (a center piece broke in half on mine). I would be more merciful on this cube if it were the only 5x5 available, but it isn't. You can buy V-Cubes here on Amazon or Eastsheen 5x5 cubes on eBay. Both are better than the Rubik's ones.
Don't buy this because it's cheaper than the V-Cube. The Greek-made V-Cube 5 is, like, infinitely better than this. It's worth the extra $10.

BAD PRODUCT!!!!Feb 11, 2010 I am an avid cube fan. They're great. There's no better way to challenge the mind, unwind, or just impress the pants of any passers-by. I've been using the 5x5 for a couple of years, and as far as this version goes, it is extremely disappointing. The quality is severely lacking. The stickers fall off in a good week of use. The cube is stiff and doesn't want to rotate easily (no finger tricks). And if you push it too much or too fast, it will fall apart (pieces all over the floor!).
If you are considering moving up from the original 3x3 (and by all means, you should), check out anything but the Rubik's brand. Your main options are going to be either the Eastsheen or the V-Cube. The Eastsheen is pretty good. The motion is better (if still not as good as it could be) and the overall construction is more solid. You can readily pick one up on e-bay for a decent price. But your best bet by far is the V-Cube 5x5. Amazon has started selling them, but you'll get a better price from the v-cubes website. For around $25 you'll get a cube lightyears ahead of the other options out there.
Rubik's Cube ReviewFeb 11, 2010 I purchased this item as a gift for my 20 year old grandson who is in Brazil. He told me he wanted one so that's the reson I purchased it. I think he wanted it because it would be a challange to solve.
