Critical FlawAug 02, 2010 The lid doesn't secure to the unit so it is only suitable for adult use. Children do not have the coordination to keep the unit upright while trying to view the unit from the side. Unfortunately, the lid that contains the bug falls off unless the unit is held perfectly level. This is not good if you are trying to teach a child to confront their bug fears.
Great giftMay 01, 2010 Gave this to my grandson for Easter,we had so much fun observing the insects with this. It has good magnification. A fun toy!

boys n bugsFeb 06, 2010 My twin boys have had the Creature Peepers for two years now (when they were 3y.o.), they leave them outside all year (winter and all) and look forward to start using them in the Spring again. Although the plastic has gotten a little scratched from filling them with sand and dirt they can still see their little friend from the viewing areas. They know more about bugs than I do now! We bought this with the Spark Bug Identifier which comes with a little book about the different bugs (most importantly which ones are dangerous for the kids to touch)

Brilliant!Jan 30, 2010 This is easily the best toy my three-year old has owned. She uses it not just to look at bugs (hard to find in the New England winter!), but she also uses it to peek at leaves, pebbles and M&M's! The Creature Peeper comes with a ugly brown toy grasshopper, which immediately caught my kid's fancy! She calls him Slimy, feeds him all kinds of stuff and pretends to watch it through the magnifying glass. She is OBSESSED with this thing, which is not bad at all! I think it has great educational value because she is now following nature with greater interest.
The toy itself is very durable and easy to clean. I'm thinking of getting one each time I have to go to a birthday party!
Don't think twice, buy it!

peeping at bugs.Oct 15, 2009 My grandson liked this toy alot. Not only is he picking up bugs outside, he can put them into his peeper and look at them close up. It is real easy for him to use.
